Marshal Rachman Suffering from Kidney Disease, Ada Band Feels Limp Without Their Guitarist

Ada Band is facing a major challenge with the absence of Marshal Rachman, the guitarist, who has not performed with them for six months due to health issues. Marshal is known to have to undergo intensive treatment due to kidney disease, which requires him to undergo dialysis twice a week.

Naga, the vocalist of Ada Band, expressed how Marshal's absence feels heavy for the band. According to him, Marshal is one of the pillars that gives a distinctive color to Ada Band's music. Read more below!

"Yes, of course we feel a loss, it's limping. One of the things that colors the uniqueness of Ada Band's music is him too. So losing Mas Marshal on stage affects us," said Naga in the Kemang area, South Jakarta, Wednesday (16/10/2024).

However, Naga realizes that the band's journey must continue. All members of Ada Band fully support Marshal's recovery process. They understand the difficult situation faced by the guitarist and do not want to force him to return to the stage before he is fully recovered.

"The show must go on. Mas Marshal is undergoing treatment, we can't force him either. We also pray that he recovers quickly," he added.    "As of now, he has to undergo dialysis twice a week and there is still a device attached to his neck. So it's impossible for him to perform with us," explained Naga.

To fill the vacancy of the guitarist position, Ada Band decided to use additional players. Several substitute musicians were deemed suitable for the character of Ada Band and helped maintain the quality of their performances.   "We have several additional players, we look for those who fit our character, in addition to their playing style as well. Maybe that's what makes us choose and eventually take turns," said Naga.

Although not performing on stage, Marshal remains involved in the band's creative process. Naga revealed that communication with Marshal continues, especially in the development of their new single.   "Yes, we support his treatment, the recording production process is still involved, he just doesn't join us on stage. We're currently working on a single, we still communicate," said Naga.

The decision to keep Marshal involved in the production process shows solidarity and a sense of family among the members of Ada Band. This situation has become a test for the band that has been around for decades. However, they are confident that they can get through it by supporting each other and maintaining the quality of their musical works.   "He is still part of our family. Even though he can't perform right now, his spirit is still present in every one of our works," added Naga.
