The dangdut singer Melly Lee once again demonstrates her dedication when she was appointed as one of the performers at the festive "Pesta Raya Ramadan" Indosiar held at the Transera Waterpark Parking, Bekasi, on Friday (13/3/2026).
Interestingly, behind her always perfect appearance on screen, the champion of Liga Dangdut Indonesia 2020 actually prefers to do her own makeup without the help of a professional makeup artist (MUA).
Melly admits that she has been used to doing her own makeup for a long time. For her, applying makeup herself provides a sense of comfort because she understands her own facial structure the best. Melly feels she knows exactly which parts to highlight to maximize her appearance when under the very bright stage lights.
Another unique reason is Melly's nature of feeling hesitant when it comes to correcting someone else's work. She feels freer to be creative when holding her own makeup brush than to feel uncomfortable asking a makeup artist for changes if she feels the results do not match her taste.
"I always do my own makeup because I already know that doing my own makeup is nice since I know where my flaws are. So I know what to add or where I can tone down my strengths," said Melly Lee at the Transera Waterpark parking lot, Bekasi, Friday (13/3/2026). "Actually, getting someone else to do your makeup is totally fine, but it just feels awkward when it's done and then we ask, 'Can you change this?' It’s usually fine, but for someone like me who feels uncomfortable, it feels like, 'Oh, I don’t want to correct the makeup,'" she added.
Melly's expertise in makeup did not come instantly. She learned a lot self-taught while competing on the Indosiar stage. She often observed the techniques of professionals when they did her makeup in the past, then absorbed that knowledge to practice it herself up to now.
"I absorbed their knowledge, I was self-taught actually during DA7, for 7 consecutive months I did my own makeup. I was feverish, I was used to it, so I just did my own makeup. Melly was preparing makeup for the Pesta Raya Ramadan concert in Bekasi, this is my second time participating, last year I participated in Tangerang," she concluded.
The Pesta Raya Ramadan event itself is a special entertainment for the people of Bekasi and its surroundings. Audiences can come directly to participate in off-air activities starting at 15:00 WIB featuring performances from Eby DA, Tasya DA7, and Arbil DA7 on the first day, and Afan DA, Valen DA7, and Mila DA7 on the second day.
In the evening, the Ramadan Grand Celebration is broadcast LIVE on INDOSIAR starting at 20:00 WIB. Viewers can watch special performances from Dewi Perssik, Setia Band, Melly Lee, Sridevi DA5, Afan DA5, Eby DA5, as well as the champions of D’Academy 7. The presence of Mamah Dedeh and Ustaz Doni Dion also makes the atmosphere even more special, hosted by Raffi Ahmad, Ruben Onsu, Jirayut, and Zahra DA7.
