MKD Verdict: Eko Patrio, Nafa Urbach, & Ahmad Sahroni Found Guilty of Violating the Code of Ethics

Kapanlagi.com - The final chapter of the ethical violation drama involving five celebrity members of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) has arrived. The Honorary Council of the DPR (MKD) officially read the verdict during a session held at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta.

Different fates must be accepted by the parties involved. Eko Patrio, Ahmad Sahroni, and Nafa Urbach were found guilty of violating the code of ethics, while Uya Kuya and Adies Kadir escaped sanctions.

The verdict was read directly by the Deputy Chairman of the MKD DPR RI, Adang Daradjatun, on Wednesday (5/11/2025), attended by all five parties involved.

Ahmad Sahroni received the heaviest sanction. He was suspended for 6 months due to his statements deemed unwise by the MKD.

"Declaring the fifth respondent, Ahmad Sahroni, guilty of violating the DPR RI code of ethics. Punishing the fifth respondent, Ahmad Sahroni, with a 6-month suspension," the verdict stated.

1. Sanctions for Eko Patrio & Nafa Urbach

Meanwhile, Eko Patrio received a non-active sanction for 4 months. His case began from his action of dancing in the annual MPR RI courtroom on August 15, 2025. Although the MKD believes there was no intention by Eko to offend anyone, his behavior of making a parody video afterward was deemed inappropriate.

"The court believes that such behavior is inappropriate because it seems defensive," continued the ruling.

Nafa Urbach was also found to have violated ethics and was deactivated for 3 months.

2. Uya Kuya & Adies Kadir Reactivated

On the other hand, Uya Kuya can breathe a sigh of relief. He was declared not to have violated the code of ethics, and his status as a member of the DPR RI was immediately reactivated.

"States that the third respondent, Surya Utama, is not proven to have violated the code of ethics. States that the third respondent, Surya Utama, is reactivated as a member of the DPR RI effective from the date this decision is read," said Adang Daradjatun.

The same goes for Adies Kadir, who was also found not to have violated ethics and was immediately reactivated.

During the period of deactivation, members who received sanctions will not receive their financial rights as council members. This decision is final and binding from the date it is read.

The Honorary Council of the House (MKD) is a permanent body of the House of Representatives (DPR) with the primary aim of overseeing the performance of DPR members and leaders. This institution upholds the honor and dignity of the DPR.

MKD performs functions of prevention, supervision, and enforcement against violations of the code of ethics, ensuring that every member behaves according to the established standards.

4. Legal Basis for the Establishment and Authority of MKD

Provisions regarding MKD are clearly stated in Law Number 17 of 2014 concerning the MPR, DPR, DPD, and DPRD, which has been amended by Law Number 13 of 2019. This legal foundation strengthens the position of MKD.

The implementation of the duties, functions, and authority of MKD is specifically regulated in Article 121A, Article 122, and Article 122A of Law Number 2 of 2018, providing a clear framework for this institution.

5. Duties and Authority of the MKD in Upholding Ethics

The duties of the MKD include overseeing the statements, attitudes, behavior, and actions of DPR members, as well as reinforcing values and norms. They also investigate, examine, and adjudicate cases of violations of the code of ethics.

In addition, the MKD has the authority to request data and information from other institutions and to provide recommendations related to violations of the code of ethics, in order to maintain the image and credibility of the DPR.
