Sahrul Gunawan now spends most of his time in Bandung after no longer serving as the Deputy Regent of Bandung. He admitted to still traveling back and forth to Jakarta and Bogor for certain needs, but his main residence is now in that flower city.

"Well, now I go to Jakarta maybe occasionally or if there's something important, there’s a school that needs attention in the Bogor area, I have a vocational high school in tourism that has been established since 2003," he added.
After stepping down from his political position, Sahrul actually felt he had the opportunity to refocus his attention on the school he founded. He stated that this is the right time to get directly involved in managing the foundation.
"Now I have more time to pay attention again, it turns out Allah has given me the opportunity to see my foundation and manage it," he said.
The school he manages is currently in the process of accepting new students, so the attention of this soap opera actor Jin and Jun is quite taken up by this process. He is also trying to address the challenges posed by provincial government policies that affect the education at his school.
"Right now we are in the new student admission process, how we can face the policies from the West Java Governor, how we respond to it, what the challenges are," he said.
For him, being actively involved in managing the school has become an enjoyable activity full of positive challenges. He even regularly goes to Bogor several days a week to ensure everything runs smoothly.
"I keep thinking about adding a major. It's fun, so maybe 2-3 days a week I go to Bogor to manage the school," he said.
