Noe Letto Appointed as Expert Staff of the National Defense Council

Sabrang Mowo Damar Panuluh, better known by the stage name Noe Letto, has just been appointed as an Expert Staff of the National Defense Council. The vocalist of the band Letto was appointed by Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin on Thursday, (15/1/26) last week.

This child of Emha Ainun Najib was appointed alongside 11 other expert staff, including Frank Hutapea, the son of lawyer Hotman Paris Hutapea. A total of 12 mid-level expert staff from various fields were appointed that day.

Noe Letto has just been appointed as an Expert Staff in the National Defense Council by Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin. The inauguration event was held at the Ministry of Defense office on Thursday, (15/1/26) last week.

A graduate of the University of Alberta, Canada, he holds a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Physics. Noe studied in two different majors simultaneously and obtained both B.Math and B.Sc degrees.

In total, there are 12 new Experts in the National Security Council appointed by the Minister of Defense. Besides Noe, there is also Frank Hutapea, the son of lawyer Hotman Paris Hutapea. They are experts from various disciplines appointed as Senior, Intermediate, and Junior Experts in the fields of Geo-economics, Geopolitics, and Geostrategy.

According to Kompas.com, Noe Letto was appointed as an Intermediate Expert. "Indeed, Sabrang Mowo Damar Panuluh is one of the 12 experts appointed and serves as an Intermediate Expert in the National Defense Council," said the Head of Information at the Ministry of Defense, Brigadier General TNI Rico Ricardo Sirait, Sunday, (18/1).

Rico explained that Noe Letto is tasked with providing input on cross-disciplinary strategies. This includes perspectives on social issues, culture, and strategic communication. As is known, Noe has many areas of expertise, ranging from science, observer and practitioner of AI technology, to being a mentor at the Kitiran Foundation and a cultural figure discussing various topics.

Noe is also known as an activist and artist. He also writes books and most of the lyrics for the band Letto, which has been inactive in the Indonesian music industry for the past few years.

Noe himself has not revealed his reasons for joining the government cabinet this time. However, he has received many congratulatory messages conveyed through the comment section of his personal Instagram account, @sabrang_noe.
