Not Just a Name in the Credit Title, Actor Ferdi Ali Reveals the Excitement of Being a Creative Producer in the Film 'RUMAH TETEH'

Kapanlagi.com - Ferdi Ali returns to the film industry with his latest project, 'RUMAH TETEH – STORY OF HELENA', which will premiere on February 13, 2025. This time, he not only acts as an actor but also serves as a creative producer in this psychological horror film.

For Ferdi, 'RUMAH TETEH' is his second film as a creative producer after previously working on 'JIN KHODAM'. However, his experience behind the scenes actually began with the film 'TELUH' in 2022, where he acted as an associate producer.

"Alhamdulillah this is my second film as a creative producer. Previously, I worked on 'JIN KHODAM', and before that, I was an associate producer on 'TELUH'. But at that time, I did not include my name in the credit title," said Ferdi Ali.

1. Stepping Behind the Scenes

As an actor, Ferdi has long been involved in the film industry. However, he is now starting to step behind the scenes and becoming more active as a producer. He admits to enjoying this new role, even though he initially never had a specific reason to transition behind the scenes.

"Actually, there is no specific reason why I ventured behind the scenes. I just accepted and followed the path given by God. At first, it was just a choice, but it turned out that the path opened up for me to become a creative producer," he revealed.

Together with the production house Mercusuar Film, Ferdi collaborates with Deddy Mercy in the production process. He feels happy to be able to express his creative ideas in this project.

"I can create, I can be creative, and I can express ideas together with Mr. Deddy Mercy. The process is very interesting because I am involved in almost all aspects of production," he stated.

2. The Biggest Challenge

Transitioning from merely an actor to a creative producer certainly presents its own challenges for Ferdi. He is now not only thinking about his role in front of the camera but also various aspects of production from start to finish.

"His biggest challenge is thinking about many things. From blue screens, ideas, scripts, to casting. All of that is the heart of the film. If the script is good, the film can be good. If the script is lacking, the result will also be lacking," Ferdi explained.

In addition, he is also involved in the shooting process on location, as well as in post-production and promotion.

"As a creative producer, I am involved from start to finish, including promotion. So I am involved in almost every aspect," he added.

3. Film Adaptation of a Novel

The film 'Rumah Teteh' itself carries the psychological horror genre. The story is adapted from a novel by Brii, which according to the author, is inspired by real experiences.

"This film tells the story of Helena. So, the title is 'Rumah Teteh – Story of Helena'. The story revolves around the character Helena," said Ferdi.

As a psychological horror film, 'Rumah Teteh' is expected to provide a different experience for the audience, with a deeper and more emotional story.

4. Appearing as a Cameo

Although initially only acting as a producer, Ferdi eventually appeared in this film as a cameo. This decision was made during the script meeting when he was trusted to play one of the characters.

"Actually, I had no intention of acting in this film. But during the script meeting, I was chosen to play one of the characters. Well, if I'm trusted, I'll just go along with it," said Ferdi.

Even though he only appeared in four scenes, this small role was still an interesting experience for him.

"So, I only acted as a cameo, appearing in just four scenes. My friends said I was suitable for that character, so I accepted it," he said.

5. Ferdi Ali's Hopes

As someone active in the film industry, Ferdi hopes to continue creating every year. He wants to keep acting, but also continue to explore roles behind the scenes.

"I want this to continue. At least every year I can be involved in a film, whether as an actor or producer. I also keep learning as an actor until I reach my maximum achievement," he said.
