Opie Kumis Remembers Diding Boneng's Promise: Creating Until the End of Life

"Brother was healthy until the point when he died, basically, he poured all his soul and body until his death in the world of art. This is proven. Proven, we see his body now. It means he kept his promise," said Opie Kumis when met at the funeral home in the Matraman area, Central Jakarta, Monday (3/8/2026).

Opie reminisced about the moment when Diding Boneng visited his house some time ago. In that meeting, the deceased expressed his determination to continue serving in the world of art until the end of his life.

According to Opie, Diding Boneng's love for theater has been ingrained since his youth. The late artist was known for his focus on pursuing a career as a theater actor and never tired of continuing to create.

This long dedication bore fruit in public recognition. The name Diding Boneng became increasingly known through various works he produced throughout his artistic journey.

Opie is also grateful that the late artist had the opportunity to witness him finding his path and achieving success in the entertainment world. He vividly remembers the moment when Diding Boneng was still healthy.

"I am grateful that at the time I found the path I was looking for, given by Him (God), he was still healthy. So he still had the chance to see: 'Oh, that's Opie, oh thank God, oh this, oh that.' So I was really happy," Opie expressed.

2. Hopes and Prayers Expressed

In addition to highlighting the late artist's dedication to the arts, Opie also spoke about Diding Boneng's two children. He assessed that both have good personalities. Although they do not follow in their father's footsteps in the entertainment world, they are said to have a solid religious foundation.

Opie hopes that the late artist's children can be successors who uphold their father's good name. He also expressed a hope that prayers and kindness for Diding Boneng continue to flow from the family.

"There are two of them, Alhamdulillah hopefully one of them can be their father's support. One that can cover up the shortcomings, mistakes, and wrongdoings of their father, hopefully from them," he explained.

At the end of his statement, Opie offered a prayer for the deceased. He asked for forgiveness for all his shortcomings and hoped that Diding Boneng would receive a special place by God's side.

"Yes, hopefully my prayer for Bang Boneng, may Allah forgive all his shortcomings and mistakes as a human being. May Allah grant him a worthy place by His side, and may Allah ease his grave," concluded Opie.
