PESTAPORA Officially Terminates Cooperation with Freeport Indonesia

Kapanlagi.com - The Pestapora music festival 2025 officially announced the termination of cooperation with PT Freeport Indonesia on Saturday (September 6). This statement was made through their official Instagram account.

The decision was announced ahead of the second day (September 6) and third day (September 7) of the festival. The organizing committee confirmed that during these two days, Pestapora no longer has any affiliation or ties with Freeport Indonesia.

"As of today, Saturday, September 6, 2025, Pestapora has terminated its cooperation with PT. Freeport Indonesia," they wrote.

1. No Longer Affiliated

"Pestapora ensures that for the second day, September 6, 2025, and the third day, September 7, 2025, we are no longer bound and affiliated with PT. Freeport Indonesia," added the Pestapora team.

The termination of this collaboration follows a wave of controversy and public pressure after several bands that were supposed to perform chose to withdraw from the lineup. Among those who announced their withdrawal are bands like Durga, Negatifa, and Leipzig.

2. A Series of Musicians Withdraw

The controversy escalated after a banner reading 'Copper Participants in Pestapora' appeared in the venue area, which was seen as reaffirming the mining company's involvement in the music event.

Several additional bands also withdrew, such as Sukatani, The Jeblogs, Kelelawar Malam, Rekah, Xin Lie, Ornament, Rragband, Centra, Rebellion Rose, and others. Their resignations are viewed as a form of rejection of the sponsorship and support for broader humanitarian issues.

Public response to Pestapora's decision has been varied. Some appreciate the committee's courage in taking a stand, while others question the timing of the announcement, which seemed sudden.
