Richard Lee tried to keep his decision to embrace Islam a secret. He only revealed it to the public on March 6, 2025.

Richard Lee admitted that he had been studying Islam for two years. Ustaz Felix Siauw and Ustaz Derry Sulaiman are the two religious figures who guided him.

"Initially, I was taught by Ustaz Derry and guided by Ustaz Felix Siauw. I asked both of them to keep this a secret for several reasons," Richard Lee revealed.

"This is a private matter between me and Allah, with God. I don't want to be a Muslim but hurt others. I think that is unwise. Secondly, I don't want to be labeled as seeking fame because of Islam; I don't want that," he concluded.
