Kapanlagi.com - The collaboration between PSSI and the South Korean coach of the Indonesian National Team, Shin Tae-yong or STY, is said to have ended. This rumor emerged from a post by PSSI Exco member Khairul Anwar recently.
"Thank you STY for your companionship all this time, you remain a part of the history of the transformation of Indonesian football," reads the post from the account @/kairulanwar_1 that has circulated on several other social media accounts.
Previously, the assistant coach of the Indonesian National Team, Nova Arianto, responded to the rumors. There are rumors that the Garuda Squad coach, Shin Tae-yong, will be replaced. Shin Tae-yong's position is said to be under evaluation by the Chairman of PSSI, Erick Thohir.
"We haven't had any discussions at all (regarding the replacement of the coach)," said Nova Arianto on Saturday (4/1/2025).
The Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia, Dito Ariotedjo, spoke out regarding the issue of Shin Tae-yong being replaced as the coach of the Indonesian National Team. Dito's response came before Khairul Anwar posted a farewell message to STY. Dito heard that Erick Thohir held a PSSI Executive Committee (Exco) meeting on the same day after meeting with him, which is suspected to have discussed the Indonesian National Team.
"We are waiting for the decision from PSSI. As far as I know, after the meeting with me, the PSSI Exco meeting continued. There may be a more specific discussion regarding the Indonesian National Team," said Dito.
STY's position is under pressure after the Indonesian National Team was eliminated from the 2024 AFF Cup. In the AFF tournament, the National Team played with mostly young players. STY did not call players who are currently representing European clubs as he did during the World Cup Qualifiers a few months ago.
