Rejecting the Defense Note, the Public Prosecutor Requests the Judge to Sentence Ammar Zoni to 12 Years in Prison

Kapanlagi.com - The continuation of the drug abuse case trial with the defendant Ammar Zoni was held again. This time, the trial, which took place at the West Jakarta District Court on Tuesday (31/7), was scheduled for the reading of Ammar Zoni's defense note by the Public Prosecutor (JPU).

In the previous session, Ammar Zoni, through his attorney, Jon Mathias, submitted a plea or defense note against the JPU's demands. The former husband of Irish Bella faces a prison sentence of 12 years and a fine of Rp2 billion with a 6-month prison substitute.

1. Involved in Drug Trafficking

The Public Prosecutor (JPU) is very confident that Ammar Zoni has committed the crime of drug abuse. The JPU also states that Ammar was involved in the trafficking of narcotics classified as category 1, based on the facts revealed in the trial.

"Declaring the defendant M Ammar Akbar alias Ammar Zoni has committed a crime against the law," said the JPU in the trial.

"Second, selling and acting as an intermediary in the sale and purchase of category one narcotics as threatened in Article 114 paragraph 1 of the Narcotics Law of 2008," continued the JPU.

2. Rejecting All Pleas

Therefore, the JPU requests the Panel of Judges to reject all arguments of Ammar's defense note and impose a sentence as mentioned in the previous trial. "The JPU requests the panel of judges to reject all arguments of Ammar Zoni's plea and impose a sentence in accordance with their demands," said the JPU.

"Imposing a prison sentence on M Ammar Akbar or Ammar Zoni for 12 years, reduced by the time already served. With a command to remain in custody and pay a fine of Rp 2 billion or 6 months in prison as a substitute," concluded the JPU.
