Rieke Diah Pitaloka Monitors the PK Hearing of Nikita Mirzani

Member of the Indonesian Parliament Rieke Diah Pitaloka was present at the South Jakarta District Court to monitor the first hearing of the Judicial Review (PK) filed by Nikita Mirzani. Her presence is seen as a form of oversight over the legal process, which is considered to have several irregularities.

One of the issues highlighted by Rieke is the speed of the cassation decision made against Nikita Mirzani. According to her, the time frame between the distribution of case files and the issuance of the decision is deemed unusual.

"The indication of a speedy package, in my opinion. The documents were distributed to the panel of judges on March 12, then the decision was issued on March 13. This fact raises legitimate questions regarding the basis for changing the sentence from four years to six years, the very rapid cassation examination process since the distribution of documents to the panel, and the relatively long interval until the official copy of the decision was received," said Rieke Diah Pitaloka at the South Jakarta District Court on Wednesday (6/24/2026).

Rieke emphasized that her presence was not to intervene in the independence of the judges. She only wants to ensure that the legal process runs transparently and accountably.

According to her, this fact serves as a reminder that oversight of the integrity of the judiciary is necessary to uphold the dignity of legal institutions.

"The fact serves as a reminder that oversight of the integrity of the judiciary is not an excessive action, but rather a necessity to uphold the dignity of the judicial institution. The public is also aware that the cassation panel in Ronald Tannur's case had been reported to the Judicial Commission and followed up with an ethical examination," he stated.

Therefore, Rieke encourages the Supreme Court Supervisory Agency to conduct a thorough evaluation of case administration, from file distribution to the delivery of decision copies.

In addition, he also urged law enforcement officials not to hesitate to take legal action if any violations are found in the judicial process in the future.

"We support the Attorney General of the Republic of Indonesia to take legal action if sufficient preliminary evidence is found regarding allegations of bribery, gratification, case conditioning, or other criminal acts related to the judicial process, while upholding the principle of presumption of innocence," he concluded.
