The birthday moment of Thalia Putri Onsu that should have been full of happiness instead left disappointment for her father, Ruben Onsu. Ruben is known to have not attended the celebration of his eldest daughter's birthday for quite profound reasons.

Minola Sebayang recounted that Ruben only received the invitation to the celebration through a sudden text message from Sarwendah. Ruben felt disappointed because as a biological father, he was not involved at all in the planning of the event.

"The one who is having a birthday is our child, they say. The one who is having a birthday is not just S's child but also Ruben's child, you know," said Minola Sebayang while speaking with the media via Zoom, Friday (5/6/2026).

Ruben Onsu feels that his position is only regarded as a regular guest, not as a parent with equal rights. In fact, he really wants to discuss the best time and place to be present amidst his busy schedule.

In addition to communication issues, the schedule for the celebration coincidentally clashes with Ruben's regular work schedule on television. This leaves Ruben with no choice but to be absent from the unilaterally determined event.

"But Ruben is just a guest, you know. As a guest, and what is most unfortunate is that it coincides with the time Ruben is live on one of the TV stations," he said.

Minola emphasized that matters concerning the child should still be discussed together even though the parents are divorced. He regrets Sarwendah's attitude, which seems to forget Ruben's existence as a legally and religiously recognized father.

"Ideally, when talking about wanting to celebrate a child's birthday, both the mother and father should sit together or at least communicate to plan and discuss the time and place of the celebration, you know," he said.

This issue adds to the long list of conflicts they have previously had regarding the contents of Deed 39. Ruben feels that he has fulfilled his financial obligations of up to 200 million rupiah, yet his right to meet his child remains complicated.

"And at the very least, before the physical gifts are given by Ruben, he has already given a good and beautiful gift, which is the gift of the best prayers for his child on this birthday," he stated.
