Ruben Onsu and Sarwendah Visit South Jakarta District Court, Child Custody Mediation Postponed

The postponement occurred because the mediator judge appointed by the court was unable to attend, and this information was only received after both parties arrived at the location.

"We received information that the mediator judge was unavailable. So we will wait for the next mediation," said Chris Sam Siwu.

The statement from Sarwendah's legal counsel was made at the South Jakarta District Court on Thursday (06/08/2026). The mediation that was supposed to bring both parties before the mediator judge was not carried out.

Sarwendah's party arrived first at the South Jakarta District Court around 09:40 WIB. This presence aligns with the mediation schedule that had been previously set by the court.

Ruben Onsu followed, arriving at 10:19 WIB. He was accompanied by his attorney, Minola Sebayang, to fulfill the scheduled agenda.

"It's okay to postpone. We will meet with the clerk first, so it's not seen as uncooperative," said Minola Sebayang.

2. Mediation Canceled Due to Mediator Judge's Absence

According to Sarwendah's attorney, the cancellation of today's mediation occurred because the mediator judge appointed by the court was unable to attend. This information was received when the parties were already at the South Jakarta District Court.

This situation meant that the official meeting in front of the mediator judge could not take place. The agenda that was supposed to be held on the same day had to be postponed until a rescheduling could be arranged.

Under these circumstances, both parties are waiting for the next call from the court to continue the mediation process in accordance with applicable regulations.

3. What Should Be Discussed in the Mediation Room

Today's agenda was supposed to be an opportunity for Ruben Onsu and Sarwendah to present a report to the mediator judge. Both were asked to report the results of discussions regarding the parenting pattern that has been ongoing outside the court process.

"Actually, today is a report from the principals to report on the assignments given by the mediator judge, but since he cannot attend, we just have to wait for the next call," said Chris Sam Siwu.

With this postponement, the report related to the tasks assigned by the mediator will wait for the next mediation schedule. The court will issue a new summons after the replacement schedule is set.

4. Beginning of Ruben Onsu's Lawsuit and Upcoming Schedule

The case began when Ruben Onsu filed for child custody in court on June 30, 2026. He believes his rights as a father are not being upheld properly and claims to have difficulty meeting his children.

Ruben Onsu and Sarwendah have officially divorced since September 24, 2024. Nevertheless, the matter of child custody has yet to reach a final agreement.

According to procedure, mediation will be rescheduled in the next two weeks. The parties are waiting for an official notification from the court for the continuation of the process.
