Starring in the Biopic Film Srimulat, Zulfa Maharani Seeks Blessings to Play the Character Nunung

Kapanlagi.com - Youth star Zulfa Maharani is involved in the biopic film of the legendary comedy group Srimulat titled SRIMULAT: HIL YANG MUSTAHAL. She is trusted to portray the character Nunung when she was a teenager.

This film is directed and written by Fajar Nurgros. It highlights the early journey of Srimulat that started from night market stages in 1981 until entering national television.

When she first received an offer to join this biopic production, Zulfa couldn't believe it. Because the person she would portray is still active in the entertainment industry until now.

"When I was first offered this character, I was like 'Huh, playing Mbak Nunung?'. She is a comedian from Srimulat who is still active and has many jobs," said Zulfa when met at MNC Studios, Kebon Jeruk area, West Jakarta, Monday (6/12/2021).

1. Portraying Nunung's Burden

Although feeling burdened at first, Zulfa Maharani and other cast members were fortunate to receive assistance from MNC Pictures and IDN Pictures. For the surviving members of Srimulat, they are scheduled to meet the cast directly.

"Honestly, I felt burdened. Mbak Nunung's character is very strong and until now, there are still many fans who love her because she is still active. Fortunately, the film team provided the facility to meet Mbak Nunung directly," said the 21-year-old girl.

2. Commented on Physical Appearance

When they first met, Nunung immediately commented on Zulfa Maharani's physical appearance. Because during adolescence, Nunung's body shape was not much different from Zulfa's.

"Her response when we first met was 'I used to weigh this much'. Because when she first joined Srimulat, she was not yet 20 years old, still young and thin," explained Zulfa.

3. Asking for Blessings from Nunung

In that first meeting, Zulfa Maharani immediately asked for Nunung's blessing to portray her younger self. That blessing is what Zulfa needed for everything to go smoothly.

"When I first met her, I wanted Mbak Nunung to give me her trust so that when I portrayed her, I already had that support. And it turns out Mbak Nunung is very open. She supports me a lot and I was given her blessing," said the actress born in Jayapura.
