Tika Panggabean Reveals the Meaning Behind Project Pop's Latest Song 'Gara-Gara Corona'

Tika Panggabean admits that the title of this song is indeed inspired by the coronavirus outbreak. Previously, Project Pop had discussed this idea.

"So the idea actually came from Yosi with the choice of 'Gara-Gara Corona'. So, some of us also thought 'let's make a song, parody our own song'. We have a song called 'Coconut' so let's change it to 'Corona', for example. But in the end, Yosi came up with the idea 'how about 'Gara-Gara Kahitna', let's change it to 'Gara-Gara Corona''. Oh, it seems more fitting. So 'Gara-Gara Corona' is about anything that happens after the coronavirus outbreak. So, in the end, Yosi wrote the lyrics, Udjo also wrote the lyrics and then collaborated the two lyrics. That's how 'Gara-Gara Corona' was created," said Tika Panggabean when contacted by phone (28/3).

1. Fast Production Process

Tika admitted that the process of making their song was done quickly. This is because the members are still enthusiastic and cohesive in working on their parts. They are even willing to cancel many events just to make the song.

"Oh, it's so fast, like for example today Yosi proposed 'Because of Corona', then Udjo wrote the lyrics. In the afternoon, Yosi also wrote the lyrics and we saw that both lyrics were good, so we just combined them. Finally, the lyrics were made, and we already had empty schedules. Many events were canceled, so our schedules started to become empty," said Tika.

In addition, Tika said that for this music video, they collaborated with Cameo Project. The only female member of Project Pop also mentioned that their current challenge is the COVID-19 pandemic. However, they can overcome it by limiting going out and regularly washing hands.

After 24 years of working, this song is their comeback as a 90s vocal group. As it is known, Project Pop's songs always successfully steal the hearts of many people. Tika also delivers an important message in the song Because of Corona.

"We capture the current condition, that because of corona, we often wash our hands, so we keep our distance from each other, and most importantly, because of corona, we often gather with our families. Because of everyone working from home, learning from home," said Tika.

"From there, there are important messages, like Udjo talking about washing hands properly, and then Oddie talking about the need to rest, get enough sleep, not believe in hoaxes, and not touch our faces too often. Those are the messages, light things that may be easily forgotten even though they are the essence of how we can avoid being infected by this corona virus," she added.

Tika Panggabean hopes that with this song, people can be entertained and reminded in a sweet way. She wants everyone to remember the meaning of this song in an enjoyable way.
