Kapanlagi.com - Tom Holland shared a funny story while being a guest on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The Spider-Man actor admitted that he once sent a direct message or DM to Norwegian national team striker, Erling Haaland, but never received a reply.
This confession immediately drew laughter from the audience. Holland even referred to the experience as one of the moments that kept him grounded despite being one of the most popular Hollywood actors today.
Even though he was ignored, Holland made sure to express his admiration for Haaland and considers the Manchester City striker as one of the best footballers in the world.

In his conversation with Jimmy Fallon, Holland shared that it all started when he attended the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Monaco last June. At that time, he saw Haaland in a different hospitality area and decided to try to reach out to him via Instagram.
The 29-year-old actor hoped to invite Haaland to dinner. However, his hopes were dashed as the message received no response at all.
"I did send him a message. And I think it was a very humbling experience for an actor. We think, 'I will reach out to him, I will invite him to dinner'," said Holland.
He then continued, "There was absolutely no reply. Not even a simple excuse like, 'Sorry, I am busy playing football.' There was really no response at all."
Holland also joked, saying, "I never imagined I would be discussing this live on television, but here we are."

Jimmy Fallon suggested that Holland try to reach out to Haaland once again. However, the actor feels that the chances of that happening are getting slimmer after England, his favorite team, successfully eliminated Norway in the quarter-finals of the FIFA World Cup 2026.
"I think now he wouldn’t want to have dinner with me after what happened a few days ago," said Holland, which was met with laughter from Fallon.
Despite that, Holland still praised Haaland.
"He’s amazing. He’s truly a legend."
Interestingly, Haaland had previously explained why he didn’t respond to the message during an appearance on the Norwegian talk show A-laget.
The 25-year-old striker admitted that he didn’t realize the sender of the message was Tom Holland because he rarely watches movies.
"I don’t really watch movies that often, so I really don’t know who those people are."
He added, "Someone invited me to dinner, but I had never seen him, so I chose not to respond. I really didn’t want to reply to a message from someone I didn’t know."
Haaland’s admission actually made the story even more viral. Although it became a subject of jokes, both Tom Holland and Erling Haaland took it in stride. Even Holland continued to show his respect for the Norwegian striker who performed brilliantly throughout the 2026 World Cup.
