"What we definitely want is for Ammar to be offline during the trial, not online. We request that Bang Ammar be present at the trial," emphasized Dr. Kamila when met in the Tendean area, South Jakarta, Friday (17/10/2025).
This request will soon be submitted to the Panel of Judges. According to Dr. Kamila, she has discussed this strategic step with the legal team."Oh yes, we will submit that, we will submit that with Om John (the legal counsel). Just ask Om John further about that. We already discussed it yesterday with Om John," she explained.
As is known, Ammar Zoni was transferred to Nusakambangan after being suspected of being involved in a drug trafficking network inside Salemba Prison. The long distance between Nusakambangan and the court location in Jakarta is the main reason for concerns about holding the trial online.
The Ammar party feels that the defendant's direct presence in the trial is a fundamental right to ensure that the evidentiary process runs fairly and transparently.
In addition to filing a request for an offline hearing, they are also preparing other legal steps, including the possibility of filing for pretrial."Oh yes, of course. We are planning to go for a pretrial or something like that, Om John doesn't understand," said Dr. Kamila.
