Demanded 300 Million Rupiah Related to 'Lagi Syantik' Copyright, Gen Halilintar Has Not Paid Compensation

Kapanlagi.com - PT. Nagaswara's lawsuit against Gen Halilintar as the copyright holder of the song Lagi Syantik popularized by Siti Badriah has come to a sweet end.

Last December 23, 2021, the Supreme Court ordered Gen Halilintar to pay Rp 300 million to Nagaswara for recycling the song by changing its lyrics, producing and commercializing it on YouTube without permission.

However, until now, Gen Halilintar has not paid the compensation to Nagaswara. Yos Mulyadi, Nagaswara's legal representative, regrets this. He stated that they have applied for the execution of the Supreme Court's decision, but the ruling has not yet been issued.

Yos hopes that Gen Halilintar will show good faith by paying the Rp 300 million to Nagaswara.

"This legal decision is final and legally binding. However, there has been no good faith shown to pay the compensation," said Yos Mulyadi in Menteng, Central Jakarta, on Thursday (19/5/2022).

Furthermore, Yos stated that they will take legal action if Gen Halilintar does not have good faith to immediately pay the compensation. However, Yosi did not specifically mention whether the legal action falls under criminal or civil law.

Meanwhile, Rahayu Kertawiguna as the CEO of Nagaswara said that the victory over Gen Halilintar is a blessing from a long struggle that they have been through. Rahayu also did not expect that the Supreme Court would give Nagaswara a victory over the song Lagi Syantik.

"I also can't believe that we won. This is a blessing because we never gave up," said Rahayu Kertawiguna.

2. Fighting for the Moral Rights of the Song Creator

As information, the case of copyright infringement of the song Lagi Syantik has been going on since 2018 until December 2021. When it was brought to the Central Jakarta District Court, the panel of judges ruled in favor of Gen Halilintar.

Then Nagaswara appealed to the Supreme Court.

According to Yos, the lawsuit filed by Nagaswara is not just about money, but more about the moral rights of the creator of the song Lagi Syantik. As a label that fights for copyright and vigorously combats piracy, Nagaswara also fights for this copyright as a form of defense for the copyright owner.
