Melly Lee Absent from Dangdut Academy 8, Father's Condition Declines Until She Has to Go Back to Her Hometown

The absence of Melly Lee from the Dangdut Academy 8 stage on Wednesday (5/8/2026) night left the audience wondering. In fact, her song titled Kamu Istimewa was performed by two contestants, Clara from Langkat and Mela. Behind her absence, there was indeed sad news coming from her hometown.

That night, Melly's position as coach was temporarily replaced by two senior contestants, Afan and Tasya. The two accompanied Clara and Mela during their performance on stage, successfully earning a Standing Ovation (SO) from the judges thanks to their stunning duet performance.

Clara and Mela's performance successfully captured the attention of Dewi Perssik. According to her, both performed cohesively with complementary vocal characteristics. However, Dewi provided some notes, especially for Mela, to better control her emotions and energy while singing duets.

"Both are cute, they synergize, their power is the same, it's really exciting to fill each other. If it's a duet, it really has to complement each other, there shouldn't be one with too much power, they have to blend into one, they have to mix," said Dewi Perssik before finally choosing Clara as the more outstanding performer.

In line with Dewi, Wika Salim also praised the performances of both. She assessed that Clara and Mela were able to deliver the song Kamu Istimewa with a different arrangement without losing the charm of the original song. However, Wika provided feedback to Mela regarding the microphone position and articulation, which were deemed still needing improvement. In the end, Wika also cast her vote for Clara.

Soimah also expressed appreciation for the development of both contestants. She specifically praised Clara's confidence, which was seen to be increasingly prominent from week to week. Meanwhile, for Mela, Soimah reminded her to pay more attention to pitch control and clarity of articulation during performances.

In the midst of the competitive atmosphere, Ramzi then revealed the reason Melly Lee could not accompany her students. He explained that shortly before the live broadcast started, Melly was actually ready to perform. However, the singer from Dangdut Academy suddenly received news about her father's deteriorating condition.

"A little while ago, when we were about to go live, Melly was already in standby mode, but she received news from her hometown that her father's health condition was worsening. So about 10-15 minutes ago, Melly went straight home to her hometown in Cikadu, Cianjur Regency," he continued.
