PK Rejected by Prosecutor, Saipul Jamil Can Only Wait for MA Decision

Kapanlagi.com - The continuation of the Judicial Review (PK) against the bribery case verdict of dangdut singer Saipul Jamil resumed at the Corruption Court, Central Jakarta, on Friday (26/3). The hearing with the agenda of signing the minutes of the PK request went briefly.

Saipul Jamil attended the hearing virtually by the panel of judges. Meanwhile, Saipul Jamil's attorney, Natalino Manuel Ximenez, stated that this was the final hearing, and he would only wait for the decision from the Supreme Court (MA).

"Alhamdulillah, Saipul's hearing went smoothly. Today was the last agenda, which was the signing of the examination of the case minutes," said Natalino.

However, it is unknown when the Supreme Court will decide on Saipul Jamil's parole request. His party also cannot determine when the decision will be released.

"We cannot confirm yet because it is still in process, it is the authority of the assembly itself. There will be no more hearings from today until next week. We cannot determine how long it will take, but usually more than a month," he said.

Previously, Saipul Jamil was sentenced to three years in prison and fined IDR 100 million or three months of imprisonment by the panel of judges at the Corruption Court in Jakarta in July 2017. The 40-year-old singer was found guilty of bribing Rohadi with IDR 250 million to ensure a lenient verdict in the molestation case by the North Jakarta District Court.

Not only that, in addition to the bribery case, Saipul Jamil also has to serve a five-year prison sentence based on the verdict of the Jakarta High Court in March 2017, for committing child molestation.
