One of the participants who successfully made it to the top 42 is Revalina, an 18-year-old teenager from Palangkaraya. Successfully passing through thousands of applicants, the girl affectionately called Reva admitted she never expected to come this far.
"Of course, Reva is very grateful, Alhamdulillah to be in the top 42 from thousands of people out there who are competing to enter the grand stage of Dangdut Academy 8, which is truly extraordinary in Indonesia," she said when met at the Emtek Indosiar Studio on Monday (13/7/2026).
Seeing that the competition will become increasingly fierce, Reva hopes to be mentored by her idol. When asked who she would like to have as her coach, Reva answered without hesitation that she really wants to be a student of coach Selfi Yamma.
"I want to learn with everyone, but I really want to be with coach Selfi Yamma," she continued.
Reva's desire to be a student of Selfi Yamma is not without reason. Being on the big stage of Dangdut Academy 8 makes her want to keep learning and acquire new knowledge from the coaches who train her. Moreover, she previously received notes on what she needs to improve for a better performance in the future.
"Yesterday, the homework was for Reva to figure out how to be herself, and also, there was too much vibrato yesterday, so maybe that’s something she will learn again later," she explained.
Reva's wish to be mentored by the Queen of Cengkok, Selfi Yamma during the D'Academy 8 event has come true. On the concert night of Welcome Top 42, which was the determining night for teams and coaches, Reva was one of the participants chosen by Selfi Yamma to be her student.
Reva is one of 14 other participants who will be mentored by Selfi Yamma throughout the journey in Dangdut Academy 8. Now, with the team division already determined, Reva is ready to fight under the guidance of her dream coach, Selfi Yamma.
