Starting from a Struggle Song, Melani from Sidrap Now Shows Her Talent in the Final Audition of D'Academy 8

Kapanlagi.com - Melani's musical journey did not initially start with the dangdut genre. The D'Academy 8 contestant from Sidrap, South Sulawesi, began her career by performing struggle songs at various national holiday commemorative events.

Melani admits that her experience performing on various stages since a young age has been a valuable asset before she finally seriously delved into dangdut music.

"At first, it wasn't directly dangdut. Melani was involved in songs for events like August 17, so it was definitely hero songs, struggle songs," said Melani when met at Studio 5 Emtek City, West Jakarta, on Friday (3/7/2026).

As time went by, she began to explore various music genres until she finally fell in love with dangdut. Her interest in the distinctive vocal techniques of dangdut made her determined to audition for D'Academy 8. Melani herself began actively performing in various competitions since she was in junior high school.

"Since 3rd grade of junior high school, I've liked performing, competitions, participating in events," she said.

1. Learning Together with a Mentor

The decision to join D'Academy was also driven by her desire to learn more from experienced mentors and judges.

"I am 20 years old. My motivation is to gain more knowledge, to learn more here with great people," she said.

2. Grateful

Although she was a bit nervous because this was her first experience auditioning for D'Academy, Melani is grateful to have made it to the Final Audition.

"Thank God, I am definitely happy, very grateful to be given this golden opportunity. This is my first time at Dangdut Academy," she said.
