Star (Bangka Belitung Islands) & Delira (Bandung) performed a duet in the Top 37 Dangdut Academy 8 held on Monday, August 3, 2026. They sang the song 'I Was Born For Whom' and successfully amazed the three judges, namely Soimah, Dewi Perssik, and Nassar.
All the judges did not hesitate to give a Standing Ovation or All SO. As is known, Star & Delira are two students of coach Selfi Yamma who performed a duet that night.
Nassar stated that the collaborative performance of Star & Delira successfully made the song even more enjoyable, with the blend of Star's vocal style and Delira's maturity.
"Bintang, I just met you tonight and it turns out this is our first meeting, you are amazing. I saw Bintang and Delira singing, both of them are equally determined not to lose, but I really admire Delira, whatever vocal runs Bintang throws at her, Delira neutralizes it, you are very mature Delira," Nassar gave his praise.
Dewi Perssik likened the performance of Bintang & Delira to a married couple who are arguing but holding back their emotions in the name of love.
"Bintang has the power to balance Delira. Delira's voice is soft but when singing this song, it's powerful, the feel is equally good, the improvisation given is also equally good, especially Bintang, I actually want to try the call-and-response part. Bintang has a powerful voice, this is like a married couple fighting but their emotions are still held back because it's full of love. I like both of them, very natural, you both keep the spirit, still have a competitive spirit because there are still many challenges out there," said Dewi Perssik.
Soimah then asked Selfi Yamma about unifying the characters between Bintang & Delira, whose vocal characters are very different. It turns out, Selfi directed Bintang to adjust to Delira's tone in the song Aku Dilahirkan Untuk Siapa.
"Sure, because it's like Bintang is following the tone, adjusting to Delira's tone, so that might be a challenge for him with his slightly hoarse voice, but it turns out he can reach the soft character of Delira, and we will see how the collaboration goes," said Selfi Yamma.
Bintang & Delira became the two academicians who passed from the Top 37 Dangdut Academy 8. That night, Sakhi (Binjai) was the academician who had to be eliminated.
In the Top 37 round, the representatives from West Java are spread across several groups so they do not face each other directly.
