The latest news regarding Ariana Grande's salary in the film Wicked focuses on rumors stating that she is paid higher than her co-star, Cynthia Erivo.
This issue arose after the film's release on November 22, 2024, with claims that Grande received $15 million or around Rp 237 billion for her role as Glinda. Meanwhile, Erivo only received $1 million or around Rp 15 billion for her role as Elphaba.
"The report about the salary difference between Cynthia and Ariana is completely wrong and based on information from the internet," said a Universal spokesperson to The Hollywood Reporter.
"Both women are paid the same for their roles in Wicked," they continued.
Although the specific amounts were not disclosed, the statement emphasized that both actresses are compensated equally for their hard work in the film.
This was done to ease the tensions raised by the rumors and to highlight the importance of both stars' contributions to the film, which has achieved box office success, with initial earnings reaching $112 million in the US.
