Johnny Depp Wins Against Amber Heard in Court: Truth Will Never Die

As reported by Variety, Amber Heard is required to pay US$ 15 million or equivalent to IDR 217.6 billion to Johnny Depp. The amount is the compensation and penalty for the defamation allegations in her Washington Post article regarding domestic violence in 2018.

Although the jury sided with Depp in the trial, they also made a decision on Heard's counterclaims. The AQUAMAN star is said to receive a compensation of US$ 2 million or equivalent to IDR 29 billion.

In celebration of his victory, Johnny Depp wrote an emotional message. He described the losses he experienced after being accused of domestic violence, which ruined his reputation, image, and career as an actor.

"Six years ago, my life, the lives of my children, and the lives of those close to me, and all who have supported and believed in me for years, were forever changed. In a blink of an eye," Depp wrote in his post.

He continued, "Serious and false allegations of criminal conduct were leveled against me via the media, causing endless torrents of unfathomable hatred, despite my never having been charged with any crime whatsoever. Because of this, I have traveled the world and experienced the full gamut of human emotions, from the lowest of lows, to the highest of highs. And now, after six long years, I was finally vindicated by the jury. I am truly grateful."

The 58-year-old actor revealed that he had prepared this lawsuit very carefully. Trying to ignore various negative thoughts about public reactions due to trauma and his upcoming trial, he is determined to bring this to the court.

"From the beginning, the goal of bringing this case to the legal path is to reveal the truth, no matter what the result is. Honesty is my debt to my children and everyone who has supported me all this time. I finally feel calm that I have achieved all of that.

3. The Truth Will Never Die

At the end of his post, Depp did not forget to express his utmost gratitude for the love and support given from millions of eyes scattered around the world. He also conveyed a message to dare to reveal the truth for anyone who experiences a similar situation.

Depp also expressed his gratitude to the judge, jury, court staff, and police who have helped him since early March until the end of May. Depp called them extraordinary for revealing the truth.
