Actor Dwi Sasono returns to portray Rizal Maduma in the latest version of the film MENDADAK DANGDUT, which will be released on April 30, 2025. After 19 years since the first version was released, Dwi welcomes a new challenge in the continuation of his iconic character's story.

Dwi expressed that Rizal's journey symbolizes his own development as an actor. From a beginning with minimal experience, he now feels more mature and understands the rhythm of cinema. Here are the details.

"19 years from 2006 to 2025. Back then, from the breath and heartbeat, it was already dangdut. That was my first film from scratch, from not knowing anything," he reminisced about his early days in the film industry, when met in the Kuningan area, South Jakarta, on Tuesday (22/4/2025).

He also mentioned director Monty Tiwa as an important figure in his career journey. Dwi feels very confident to collaborate with Monty again because they have understood each other professionally. "Well, you could say, Sinemart, Mr. Monty has been very instrumental in my life. Especially Monty, so I already know what Monty wants," said Dwi.

The return of Rizal is depicted as a major transformation. No longer a keyboard player, Rizal is now a renowned dangdut music producer who is celebrated by many.

"Yes, Rizal's journey over 19 years from a solo keyboard player to becoming a producer is like he disappeared to meditate in a cave, until he is now celebrated," he revealed.

Rizal's appearance in this film was made iconic by Monty Tiwa, even his introduction scene on screen was packaged with dramatic visuals that added to the character's aura. "Yes, when he appears it's cool, made cool by Monty. Just when he shows up, it’s already very cool," said Dwi while laughing.

Although it has been a long time since he played the character Rizal, Dwi admitted that he had no difficulty returning to the character because he knows Rizal as well as he knows himself.
