During the filming process of THIS IS NOT A MOTHER, Ali Fikry admitted that he felt confident from the start that this film would present something different from typical horror. He emphasized that the presentation of this film is not just about scaring with jumpscares, but more about a haunting psychological experience.

"From the filming process, I really believed that the final result would be that good and that scary. It's actually not just scary; there’s comedy, there’s drama, there’s horror-terror. This horror isn’t just about jumpscare ghosts, but more about psychological horror. So I think it will provide a more thrilling viewing experience," Ali explained.

Aurora also added, "So it’s like making you feel uncomfortable. Watching it feels like, oh, I want to get out of here."

2. Artika Sari Devi Amazed by the Chemistry of Aurora and Ali

The presence of Aurora and Ali in this film immediately caught the attention of Artika Sari Devi. According to her, the chemistry between them is so strong that they look like real siblings. She did not hesitate to express her admiration for the energy they both showed on set.

"Similar, yes. Everything is on the same frequency, their joking style, oh my. It really makes one very confident that these kids were indeed born from the same womb, you know. I can’t imagine maybe their mother was craving something intense for her to have such magical children. Their energy is extraordinary and that’s what made me attract to want to be in this film, to meet these two amazing kids. They are totally committed, all out for sure," Artika expressed.

Artika also slightly reveals the premise of the film IT IS NOT A MOTHER. According to her, this film tells a story from the perspective of children who suddenly have to face a significant change in the figure of the mother they love. This change is the core mystery behind the film.

Artika recounts that the film IT IS NOT A MOTHER tells the story of Vira, a girl, the first child of a family who has a younger brother named Dino. The two share a very close emotional bond.

"Then in their family, the father and mother have conflicts, and eventually, the mother decides to raise them alone and become a single parent. So the story takes the point of view of Vira and Dino, who see how their mother, whom they have known and loved, is suddenly changing. At one phase, they find that their mother seems like a different person from the mother they have known all this time," explained Artika.

"Absolutely, we have to explore every emotional and physical aspect. We also have to dig into ourselves to find what from our experience in real life can relate to the feelings our character experiences.So that we can connect and go deeper. Maybe it makes us more sympathetic to the character," said Aurora.

Artika added, "That’s what ultimately makes our sympathy turn into deep love for the roles we play."

Ali also added, "Maybe the challenge is true, it’s quite physical and emotionally draining because the scenes are pretty intense and many are emotional. Plus, I wear glasses here, so that’s quite a challenge, because the glasses are really thick and have a thick fish eye effect, that’s also quite a challenge. And besides that, if there are challenges, most of them are on the set like scenes with cats, then there are scenes where we run around, climb, and so on. That’s the challenge."

So, how scary is the film DIA BUKAN IBU according to its cast? Without hesitation, they immediately gave high scores for the level of terror that the audience will feel in the cinema.

Aurora firmly said, "Wow, a thousand. Yes, it's really scary."

Artika also admitted to feeling scared while delving into her role, "I was scared just playing the mother character. I was scared because this character is in me, you know."

Ali chimed in, "Even though we already know the plot, watching it will still be scary. I’ve already prepared to sit close to Aurora when watching it later."
