Aulia Sarah Was Disheartened When 'KKN DI DESA PENARI' Was Postponed for 2 Years

Excited and curious feelings are certainly also felt by all the crew and cast of the movie KKN DI DESA PENARI, such as Aulia Sarah who plays Badarawuhi. Interestingly, Aulia admitted that she was disheartened because the movie she starred in had not been released yet.

"We've been waiting for 2 years, finally it's going to be released. And I'm sure it won't be postponed again. Amen. Honestly, I had a moment where I was disheartened, not excited. But now I'm excited again," Aulia Sarah recalled when chatting with KapanLagi.com recently.

1. The Beginning of Being Offered Open Casting

Aulia then shared the story of how she was offered a role in the film directed by Awi Suryadi. At that time, Aulia didn't follow the hype of the KKN in Desa Penari story that went viral on Twitter after being promoted by a user named Simpleman.

"This story went viral on Twitter, then it was made into a book. Until finally, KKN was going to be made into a film and there was an open casting for its characters. My management informed me about the casting, but honestly, I didn't know about it and didn't follow it even though it was viral. I don't know why, maybe I was just too busy at that time and skipped the news about KKN in Desa Penari," said Aulia.

2. Research on the Story 'KKN DI DESA PENARI'

Although not following the story, Aulia was unwilling to waste the opportunity to play in the film. From there, she conducted various research to be able to get the feel and essence of the whole story.

"I can't just audition with 0% preparation, so I researched, even bought the book. Then I auditioned and got the role. As time went by, I finally understood the story, process by process," explained Aulia.

3. Research on the Character of Badarawuhi

Aulia herself did not want to play a character without any knowledge. When confirmed to play Badarawuhi, she immediately rushed to do various research to get to know the ghost dancer's character better.

"I did a lot of research, even went through social media, read the book, looked at references from foreign films, what kind of dominant, powerful female character. I researched everything. Actually, this character has a pattern, but I have to have my own development version. In Indonesia, this character is probably like Ratu Pantai Selatan (Queen of the Southern Beach)," she concluded.
