Coinciding with the 25th Anniversary, Miles Films Officially Announces the Production of 'PETUALANGAN SHERINA 2'

Kapanlagi.com - Over the past year, rumors have been circulating that the duo producers and directors Mira Lesmana and Riri Riza will make PETUALANGAN SHERINA 2. When confirmed, both parties still refused to comment much.

Coinciding with the 25th anniversary of the production house Miles Films, Mira and Riri finally gave an answer. If it is true, they have started the production process of the sequel.

"Yesterday I was called by friends from the media, especially those close to me, asking if the sequel will be made. I said, 'Later, not yet'. But today we officially announce to everyone that PETUALANGAN SHERINA 2 will soon embark on an adventure," said Mira during a virtual conference session via Zoom on Friday (30/10/2020).

1. Creating a Sequel Because of Sherina's Question

Furthermore, Mira Lesmana admitted that she initially wanted to create PETUALANGAN SHERINA REBORN. However, Sherina Munaf's question about the possibility of making a sequel made Mira change direction.

"It was funny at first. If you see (on Instagram) why I often gather with Sherina, we gather for another project. But I told Sherina that I wanted to make PETUALANGAN SHERINA REBORN. She asked, 'Why reborn? We can still make a sequel. I can still play.' I said, 'Do you want to, Sher?' She answered, 'Yes, Derby wants to as well.' After that, we gathered and discussed the sequel," explained Mira.

2. Postponed Due to the Pandemic

PETUALANGAN SHERINA 2, which is still directed by Riri Riza, was originally scheduled to begin principal photography in April with an estimated release in late 2020. However, due to the pandemic, the process had to be postponed.

If there are no obstacles, filming will start in March or April 2021. Meanwhile, the release in theaters is estimated to be in the fourth quarter of 2021.
