Covid-19 Cases Increase and Unstable, Cinema Entrepreneurs Agree to Postpone Reopening

Kapanlagi.com - The Head of the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency, Cucu Ahmad Kurnia, issued a decision regarding the reopening of cinema entertainment services on July 7th. This decision was followed by preparations made by exhibitors to resume operational activities simultaneously on July 29th.

However, Cucu revised the decision by postponing the reopening of cinemas until an unspecified time. This is due to the increase in Covid-19 cases.

"Postponed until the situation becomes conducive again. Because the situation in Jakarta is not yet stable, it is increasing again, so we need time until it is truly conducive," said Cucu when contacted by the media on Thursday (16/7/2020).

The decision to postpone the reopening of cinema entertainment services has been coordinated with exhibitors who are members of the Indonesian Cinema Entrepreneurs Association (GPBSI). Through a media statement, Djonny Syafruddin, as the Chairman, expressed his approval.

"GPBSI has received a Decree from the Head of the Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Agency regarding the postponement of cinema reopening. Considering the latest developments of the Covid-19 pandemic in the country and as an active effort to support the nation's recovery, GPBSI, as the association of cinema entrepreneurs throughout Indonesia, understands and fully supports the decision, and will implement the postponement of cinema reopening nationwide," said Djonny, as quoted from the release received by KapanLagi.com.

This postponement will be used by cinema operators to continue training and preparing health protocols and the new normal. So that when there is permission to operate again, they can be implemented.
