Cult Film 'THE LAST WOLF' Made into a Series, Here are 4 Interesting Facts behind the Making Process!

Kapanlagi.com - Director Upi released a film titled THE LAST WOLF in November 2009. This crime drama highlights the competition between mafias in the capital city and features famous names at that time. Some of them are Vino G Bastian, Fathir Muchtar, Dion Wiyoko, Dallas Pratama, and Ali Syakieb.

Eleven years later, Screenplay Production made a series adaptation that will be streamed on Vidio. While the film casts Vino as the main character, the series version features Abimana as the central character. Here are some facts about this series created by Tommy Dewo that you must know!

1. Continuing the Story in Film Version

The storytelling of the SERIGALA TERAKHIR series takes place ten years after the ending in the film version. That's why Vino and his friends are not involved again because their characters are said to have died. The series itself focuses on the character of Alex (played by Abimana Aryasatya) who has just been released from prison, and there is also the character of Fatir (played by Reza Palevi).

"The story of this series is moving forward, we are not repeating the past events in the film version. The only survivors from the film are Alex and Fatir. But why we chose Alex is because there is a point of view related to the previous film. The answer will be revealed in future episodes," said Tommy Dewo during a press conference session via Zoom on Monday (21/9/2020).

2. Upi's Blessing to Continue

The film SERIGALA TERAKHIR was written and directed by Upi, who at that time used the name Upi Avianto. Although not involved in the making of this series, Upi gave her blessings to director Tommy Dewo and screenplay writers Titien Wattimena and Anggoro Saronto to continue what she had created.

"Before we made this series, I consulted with Upi. There were some ideas that Upi discussed, but she couldn't be involved because she was busy writing SRI ASIH. So she gave her blessings for it to be continued, and she was really happy that this film is being continued," explained Wicky V Olindo, the producer, in the same session.

Tommy added, "Upi gave me the freedom to create the world of SERIGALA TERAKHIR after these ten years. With the development of Naga Hitam, I can create more freely," he said.

3. Takes Months to Eat

The last WOLF series began principal photography in November 2019 and continued in early 2020. However, filming was halted due to the coronavirus pandemic.

"Filming started in November last year, then because of various reasons we continued in February and were interrupted by the PSBB. From there, we stopped and continued after everything was safe. It seemed long, but for these shooting days, it took us 41 days," said Tommy.

"We managed to shoot between February-March. However, we had to stop filming until the first PSBB was completed. To finish this, it took effort because the existing sets could no longer be used after the PSBB period," added Wicky.

4. Why Only 6 Episodes?

The last WOLF series started airing on the Vidio streaming service on Friday, September 25, with six episodes. Wicky V Olindo as the producer has his own reasons why the episodes are relatively short.

"Why only six episodes? We consider it from the perspective of the story's importance. Here, we want to create something because the film itself has become a cult movie and has fanatic fans. If we make it into a series, it has to be strong in terms of the story. Instead of making it long but weak, we'd rather make six episodes that are compact and strong. If this series is accepted by the audience, there may be a next series. We just want to make something compact first, then we'll see what kind of impact the audience gives," emphasized Wicky.

In addition to Abimana Arsyasatya and Reza Palevi, this series is also enlivened by Rizky Nazar, Revaldo, Hannah Al Rashid, and Tio Pakusadewo.
