Kapanlagi.com - The Indonesian animated film titled JUMBO sets a new record in the national film industry. In just one week of screening, this film has successfully attracted more than one million viewers, making it the highest-grossing Indonesian animated film of all time.
This proud achievement has received appreciation from the Chairman of the National Creative Economy Movement (Gekrafs), Kawendra Lukistian. According to him, the success of JUMBO shows that the potential of local creators is very large and worthy of consideration on the global stage.
"The film JUMBO shows us that the creative collaboration of our nation’s children can produce works of international standards," said Kawendra during an interview with the media.
The statement was made when he was met in Jakarta on Monday (April 14, 2025). He added that the success of JUMBO is an important momentum to accelerate a significant leap in the national creative economy sector.
"We need a big leap so that Indonesia's creative economy sector can become the center of the world's creative economy civilization," he continued.
The film JUMBO itself is the result of hard work from more than 420 local creators. This massive collaboration has yielded results not only commercially but also proudly in terms of quality.

The Deputy Chair of the Indonesian House of Representatives, who also serves as the Chair of the Gekrafs Advisory Board, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, also expressed his support for the film. He invited the public to give more attention and support to domestic creative works.
Not stopping at national cinemas, JUMBO will also be screened in 17 countries starting June 2025. This proves that animations created by the nation's children are ready to compete internationally.
“We are optimistic that the creative economy is the future of Indonesia. It is time for us to make a big leap so that Indonesia truly becomes the global creative economy hub,” concluded Kawendra.
