Kamila Andini has made a proud achievement for the Indonesian film industry. This talented director has just been selected as one of the judges at the 2025 Academy Awards.
In her Instagram post, the director of the film YUNI announced the invitation she received from AMPAS (Academy of Motion Picture, Arts, and Sciences). The post states that Kamila is part of The Academy Class of 2025.
Kamila Andini is now part of The Academy Class of 2025. She received an invitation to join the jury for the Academy Awards, commonly known as the Oscars. In the future, Kamila will be able to cast her vote for the film that will win the Oscar.
Kamila is the first Indonesian female director to join the jury of this prestigious film festival. Previously, there was already an Indonesian female producer who was part of The Academy Class, namely Amelia Hapsari, who served as a juror in 2020.
The announcement of her inclusion in the jury list of The Academy was made by Kamila through a post on her personal account @kamilaandini. "One gold morning, ready to be part of @theacademy," wrote Kamila.
It is not easy to be one of the judges at a festival as large as The Academy. AMPAS itself is an organization that organizes the Oscar Awards. The directors selected for the class of 2025 are chosen by the highest council of AMPAS, and they will later cast their votes to select the nominees and winners of the Oscar Awards each year.
