Kapanlagi.com - On December 31st, two films directed by Fajar Bustomi, namely MARIPOSA and MILEA: SUARA DARI DILAN EXTENDED, will be released in cinemas throughout Indonesia. Many welcomed the release, but some are afraid that MARIPOSA viewers will be drawn by the DILAN franchise viewers.
However, Fajar responded calmly to this matter. Because these two films have different markets, even though they are both intended for the teenage market.
"The decision to release them together is from the cinema and the producers. It's not that they are being paired, actually MILEA is different from MARIPOSA. Many have watched MILEA, the extended version only has an additional 16 minutes. In my opinion, those who haven't watched MARIPOSA will still watch it. I'm not afraid of dividing the audience. They already have their respective markets," said Fajar in an interview via Zoom on Monday (21/12/2020).
MARIPOSA was previously released in March and successfully collected a total of 741 thousand viewers. However, just a few days after its release, it had to be stopped due to government recommendations to control the spread of the coronavirus.
"MARIPOSA is being shown again not to increase the number of viewers, but because there is still a high demand from those who haven't watched it yet. The cinema also regretted having to close at that time. For me, 700 thousand viewers is already a lot, especially when the Covid issue was already big. During the promotion, we were already worried and even got a flu vaccine if I'm not mistaken. I was also worried and cautious, advising sick people not to go to the cinema," recalled Fajar Bustomi.
Now, when MARIPOSA is being shown again, Fajar Bustomi is not afraid if the number of viewers doesn't meet expectations, which is to reach millions. Because the most important thing is that he has provided the best presentation.
"I hope that MARIPOSA will be watched by a million viewers. But if it doesn't reach that number, it doesn't mean I'm not satisfied, it just means that's how much destiny allows. The number of viewers is up to the audience, my task is to make this film as good as possible. People wanting to watch my film in the cinema is already an extraordinary appreciation for me. Whether I like it or not, I have to provide a good viewing experience,” he concluded.
For KLovers who already have plans to watch movies in theaters, make sure to remain disciplined in implementing health protocols. #RememberMother'sMessage, diligently wash hands with soap and running water, wear masks, and maintain distance.
