Novel 'HEARTBREAK MOTEL' Will Be Made Into a Film and Starring 3 Award-Winning Artists

Kapanlagi.com - Three actors and actresses who have won the Citra Award, namely Laura Basuki, Reza Rahadian, and Chicco Jerikho, will play in the latest film titled HEARTBREAK MOTEL. The film is an adaptation of the novel of the same title by Ika Natassa.

"How can we present a film that elevates its story, first by finding the right actors and actresses," said Angga Dwimas Sasongko, the director, when met at the Visinema office, TB Simatupang, South Jakarta, on Wednesday (6/12) yesterday.

For the production of the film, which will begin in January 2024, Angga Dwimas Sasongko is trying to present something different. Angga will use three different cameras in this film, namely digital format, 35 mm celluloid, and 16 mm.

"And because the story has three different worlds, how can we combine three different formats," said Angga.

1. Laura Basuki's First Acting Collaboration with Chicco Jerikho

Laura Basuki, who plays Ava Alessandra, is happy to be involved in a film title for the first time with Angga. Moreover, this is Laura's first time acting alongside Chicco Jerikho.

"This is my first collaboration with Mas Angga, so I believe that Mas Angga will provide a new experience. Not only as a viewer, but also for me. Meeting Ika again, meeting Reza, and finally collaborating with Chicco, there is no reason for me to refuse," said Laura.

Meanwhile, Reza Rahardian, who plays Reza, admits that this is not his first time playing a character from a film title based on Ika's novel.

"Well, because Ika and I have worked together before. I asked, 'Are you sure? Your novel again'. But because I followed Ika's process from writing and I have no reason to refuse," explained Reza.

"The character is very interesting. Basically, it's about a character who discovers the secrets behind his life. When it comes to acting, I had some discussions with Ika about the character I will portray," concluded Reza.

3. Storyline of HEARTBREAK MOTEL

The novel HEARTBREAK MOTEL will tell the story of Ava Alessandra's life as an actress, who every time she gets a role, will try to bring the character to life.

Ava will learn various acting methods, as well as train the emotional turmoil experienced by the character she portrays. Therefore, after finishing acting for a film, Ava will take time to be alone, recover herself, and search for her true self in a place called Heartbreak Motel.
