According to Variety, Aline Brosh McKenna, the screenwriter of the original film, is in the development stage of writing the script for this sequel at Disney. McKenna is also known for her contribution in adapting Lauren Weisberger's novel, which served as the basis for the first film. Although there is no certainty about the story details yet, the sequel's plot is expected to follow Miranda Priestly's journey in navigating her career in the ever-changing industry, including interactions with the character Emily Charlton, who is now an executive in a luxury group with a large advertising budget.
THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA was originally adapted from the novel of the same name by Lauren Weisberger, published in 2003, which reflects her own experience working in the fashion magazine world. The film was a huge success at the box office and earned Meryl Streep a Golden Globe for Best Actress in the comedy category, as well as several Academy Award nominations, including for costume design by Patricia Field.
