The film adaptation of the book La Planète des singes, or with another name MONKEY PLANET, which was adapted from the 1963 book by Pierre Boulle and released in 1968, was very successful economically and produced many spin-offs. On May 24, 2024, KINGDOM OF THE PLANET OF THE APES will be released in theaters almost seven years after the previous film, WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES. As a lighter reboot in this series, KINGDOM OF THE PLANET OF THE APES will take place several years after the events of the previous films with Caesar. Characters from those films, although still considered canon for this film, are unlikely to appear in it, including Caesar, Koba, and others.
