THE NEW MUTANTS Turns Out to Be a Series of X-MEN Movies

However, fans of X-MEN will be surprised to hear that the film THE NEW MUTANTS, scheduled to be released next month, is actually part of the X-MEN film franchise.

As reported by SCREEN RANT, the director Josh Boone confirmed that the story in this film will serve as a reference to Professor X's scenes in the upcoming X-MEN film. So, will Professor X showcase his actions once again like in the previous X-MEN films?

Boone added that Professor X will not appear in this film, it will only serve as a reference and a storyline for the final X-MEN film. For those who have followed the X-MEN films from the beginning, you know that Fox has spent over a decade creating the X-MEN films up to this point. Boone himself also stated that this film will be the final X-MEN film. However, the upcoming film is not directly related to the previous film titled DARK PHOENIX (2019).

Although it is set in the same world as the X-MEN films, most of the story in THE NEW MUTANTS stands on its own and has little connection to the previous X-MEN films. Therefore, this film, which was originally intended to be the conclusion of the X-MEN story, and would involve Professor X (James McAvoy) and Storm (Alexandra Shipp), is now separate. This film will be the last installment of the franchise.

THE NEW MUTANTS itself has experienced 3 delays in reaching the screen. After being postponed for 2 years, the film was initially rescheduled for April 3. But due to the corona pandemic, it is now scheduled for release on August 28. Well, there may be further delays due to this. However, Disney recently reaffirmed the date on their Comic-Con International YouTube account.

But you don't have to worry. Even though Storm and Professor X will not appear this time, there is still a continuation of the story that will connect with the last X-MEN film.

"Yes, the young mutants will talk about Professor X in the film," said Boone. It will be interesting to see the young mutants mention the figure of Professor X. They may have heard about it and even briefly discussed it. This news certainly makes X-MEN fans eagerly await the release of this film. Moreover, this film has a horror genre which is definitely different from other Marvel comic films.
