Success of 'KIMETSU NO YAIBA THE MOVIE' Reaches 10 Million Ticket Sales

Even in a pandemic like this, it does not diminish the enthusiasm of anime film lovers to enjoy this film. This film is an adaptation of the manga of the same title by Koyoharu Gotouge.

KIMETSU NO YAIBA THE MOVIE has successfully earned a total profit of Rp542 billion in the first week, and has generated around Rp2.6 trillion since its first screening in Japan. This anime film has become the highest-grossing film of all time. The previous record was held by the film Your Name directed by Makoto Shinkai, which previously earned Rp13 trillion in 28 days of screening.

The film tells the story of Tanjiro Komado, a boy who becomes a demon slayer after his family is slaughtered and his sister, Nezuko, is turned into a demon. This incident leads Tanjiro to join a group of demon slayers to exterminate demons that disturb human life.

Previously, KIMETSU NO YAIBA was a manga series that was later adapted into a television series. This series has been airing since April 6th to September 28th, 2019 on a channel in Japan. During its television run, the series consisted of 26 episodes and adapted the manga from the first volume to the first chapter of the seventh volume.

MUGEN TRAIN will continue the storyline directly from its 26-episode television series.

This anime film, produced by Studio Ufotable, will soon be released outside of Japan in early 2021. We just have to wait for the exact schedule regarding the film's screening in cinemas worldwide.
