16 Years of Making Music, Rileks Band Finally Releases Their Debut Single Titled 'Setia'

Kapanlagi.com - The music scene in the homeland is always vibrant with new works. Rileks Band is no exception. They have recently officially released a single titled Setia. Rileks is a band consisting of Edo (Vocalist), Raka (Vocalist), Denny (Bassist), Abdul (Guitarist), Rein (Drummer), and Indra (Keyboardist).

This band, formed on August 26, 2008, has indeed made a name for itself in the music scene with the name Edo N Friends. Playing Top 40 music with comedic gimmicks at every live performance makes Edo N Friends different and more interesting compared to most other Top 40 bands.

They have also been invited to perform in several neighboring countries multiple times. After years of making music, they thought it was time to release their own work.

1. Agreement to Change Name

"16 years is not a short time, we’ve lost count of how many times we’ve performed. All this time we’ve only covered other people’s songs, and isn’t it tiring? Finally, we thought about releasing our own work," said Edo, the vocalist and founder of Rileks band in a written statement.

"Coincidentally, our guitarist, Abdul, has a song that seems suitable, so we tried arranging and recording it," Denny added.

Even though there was a bit of a dilemma about whether to change the band’s name or not, in the end, Edo N Friends agreed to change the name that had accompanied them for 16 years to Rileks.

"Yes, because we want to celebrate our anniversary, and then release our first single, we might as well change the band name. We felt that our previous name was too personal and too generic, typical of an event project band or regular band," said Vya.

2. Themed Love

The song Setia was written by Abdul with lyrics assisted by Raka & Vya. The music was arranged by Rein.

"We chose the theme of Love for our debut single because almost everyone has experienced Love. The lyrics are light and easy to understand. So it's suitable for all audiences," explained Abdul.

Anniversary, name change, and the release of Rileks' debut single took place festively at Big Brother Kemang on Saturday (21/9). That night, Rileks performed the song Setia live for the first time and received a warm welcome from the guests at Big Brother Kemang.

"We hope that the song Setia can be accepted by all layers of society and become part of your favorite playlist," concluded Rein.
