Audrey Tapiheru Releases 'Satu Mimpiku', Admits Not Feeling Burdened to Perform the Song that was Once a Hit

Kapanlagi.com - The Covid-19 pandemic continues until the end of 2022. However, this condition does not make musicians unproductive, including Audrey Tapiheru. After the EP Love Lock, Audrey Tapiheru released her latest single.

Unlike her previous singles, this time she joined the Indohits Klasik project initiated by Sony Music Entertainment by singing the latest version of the single Satu Mimpiku which was popularized by The Groove.

According to Audrey, the arrangement of Satu Mimpiku new version was made in 2015 with music recording done in Prague, Czech Republic. However, due to various reasons, including the pandemic, this project was postponed for a while.

"In early 2021, around February or March, I was invited by Sony Music Entertainment to continue this project. Actually, I was given several song options. Because I like this single from The Groove, I chose Satu Mimpiku," said Audrey recently.

1. Hits in the 90s Era

The Groove itself is one of the famous bands in the 1990s era with members Rieka Roslan (vocals), Reza (vocals), Yuke Sampurna (bass), Ari (guitar), Tanto (keyboard & synthesizer), Ali (piano), Rejos (percussion), and Detta (drums).

Carrying the pop jazz genre, The Groove successfully drew the attention of Indonesian music enthusiasts and produced various hits, including Satu Mimpiku and Dahulu.

2. Ten Months

The process of working on the new version of Satu Mimpiku itself took approximately 10 months. Starting with Audrey's recording in May 2021, then continued with mixing and finishing until it was ready to be released on March 24, 2022.

"For this single, I have received the music recording. So, I just need to add vocals. There is a slight difference from the original single, where originally Satu Mimpiku was sung by two people. However, for this latest version, I sing everything alone. There is no duet part," she continued.

3. Unburdened

Singing one of the songs that was once a hit in its time apparently did not make Audrey worried or feel burdened.

"Fortunately, I didn't think like that. I'm sure if we feel burdened, it will actually affect the way we sing this song because we won't be able to let go. So far, when singing remake songs, I try to interpret them in my own way, try to understand what the song is about, and convey the message that is in the core of the song," Audrey concluded.
