Bernadya and Perunggu Collaboration: Bringing the Musical Vibe of 'Katrok in a Good Way'

Bernadya brings a new color in her second studio album, Hopefully Only in Dreams, by collaborating with the band Perunggu on one of the songs. This collaboration results in a work that is rich with the musical vibe of the early 2000s.

In her creative process, Bernadya provides quite specific directions to the members of Perunggu. She wants the song to sound honest, genuine, and have the characteristic of early 2000s music that she feels is simple yet still impactful.

1. Katrok in a Good Way

"Yes, I like it, it feels like the 2000s, everything seems not too... Katrok in a good way, you know. Everyone is trying things out, everyone is experimenting, but somehow it feels honest," said Bernadya when met at Citos South Jakarta, Friday (26/6/2026).

According to Bernadya, the impression of raw-sounding music actually becomes a unique attraction. She feels that many works from that era were born from an exploration process that produced honest musical character.

The vocalist of Perunggu, Maul, confirmed that Bernadya indeed provided unusual direction during the production process. She even asked them to dare to explore musical nuances that sounded "norak" according to the desired concept.

"Then when the message came from... one of the guidelines from Nadia at that time: 'Make it as katrok and as norak as possible!,'" Maul of Perunggu revealed, greeted by laughter.

The process of creating the song went quickly with many discussions about popular music references from the early 2000s. The members of Perunggu admitted to using several television music programs as a reference to build the atmosphere of the song.

"So at that time, the reference was MTV Ampuh, Clear Top 10. If anyone knows Clear Top 10, there you go. So we just made a playlist, the songs that appeared in the Clear Top 10 era were estimated to be like this," he said.

6. Bernadya is Satisfied

Bernadya admitted to being satisfied with the results of the collaboration. According to her, the distinctive character of Perunggu is able to bring a new color to her album without eliminating the musical identity that she has built over time.

"I have always wanted to collaborate with the older siblings and uncles from Perunggu. Because they are very kind, they have been very supportive since the beginning of my EP release," concluded Bernadya.
