Dreams Come True, Maira Muthma Ready to Enter the Indonesian Music Industry with the Single 'Not as Sweet as Before'

Kapanlagi.com - Dreams come true. Perhaps that is the right phrase for young soloist Humaira Muthmainah Arasyi or Maira Muthma who is now ready to compete in the Indonesian music industry. Under the auspices of Sony Music Entertainment Indonesia (SMEI), Maira released a single titled Not as Sweet as Before.

Created by Belawan, Not as Sweet as Before feels close to what Maira has experienced. Since the song was first heard, Maira immediately fell in love with its lyrics and arrangement.

"When I heard this song, I immediately felt a connection. Anyone would have felt it when the relationship they were in was no longer as sweet as it was at the beginning, making us mentally tired," said Maira to journalists recently.

For about four months, this song was prepared, starting from recording, mixing, mastering, and then ready to be released on July 21, 2023. Maira was also challenged to transform this song from being sweet to more groovy.

"That was the challenge I felt during the recording process of 'Not as Sweet as Before'. Thinking about how to arrange it, looking for references, and many more. Finally, the song turned out to be what you can hear now, which is more groovy," she explained.

1. Realized Dreams

Maira has been monitored by SMEI for a long time. The approach began when A&R Sony Music, Keke Kananta, followed Maira on Instagram. From there, communication between Maira and Keke began. Eventually, Maira was courted by SMEI.

"I was really surprised when Kak Keke suddenly followed me. Then, not long after, I received a message and was invited to chat with the Sony Music team. Being able to join a big label like Sony Music is truly unexpected, like a dream come true. Since I was young, I have loved the world of music, especially singing, and my dream was to become a musician someday. Finally, my dream came true," she said.

2. Collaboration With Several Musicians

As a newcomer, Maira also has many dreams. One of them is dreaming and hoping to collaborate with her idol musicians.

"There are many local musicians that I like, but lately, I've been listening to songs by Maliq & D'Essentials and Teddy Adhitya. Hopefully, if given the opportunity, I would like to collaborate with them," said the girl who also admires The Beatles, Ella Fitzgerald, Bruno Mars, and Incognito.

Maira, who is studying Visual Communication Design, hopes that her debut single will be liked by many people. "I hope music lovers in the country will like my first song and give a positive response. I also hope that the message in Tak Semanis Dulu can be conveyed to the listeners," Maira concluded.

Maira Muthma's debut single, Tak Semanis Dulu, can be heard on digital music platforms starting from July 21, 2023.
