DTBTNS Season 2 Will Be Held, Rekti The Sigit and Om Leo Prepare a Prize of 450 Million Rupiah

Kapanlagi.com - Young musicians and talented visual artists in the country should be prepared, because the Dare To Be The Next Superstar (DTBTNS) competition will be back in 2022. Several well-known musicians and visual artists will be the judges of this event organized by Supermusic, from The Sigit vocalist Rekti Yoewono to Oom Leo Berkaraoke. Not only that, in this second season, Supermusic provides a total prize of up to Rp 450 million.

Representative of Supermusic, Nathaniel W Utomo, said that DTBTNS Season 2 is held as a response to the high enthusiasm of participants in the same event last year, which reached almost a thousand submissions. According to Nathan, DTBTNS Season 2 is not just a talent search event, but it is designed to be a platform for aspirations, communication, and expression for young artists, especially in the field of music & visual art.

"The Dare To Be The Next Superstar event is Supermusic's 'radar' to promote talented young talents in the field of music and visual art in Indonesia, most of which have not been exposed and found their market. This is also a form of support and breakthrough from Supermusic for the creative young generation in Indonesia to continue creating and proving that the pandemic is not a barrier," said Nathan.

1. Music and Visual Art Category

According to Nathan, DTBTNS Season 2 will be held in 2 categories, namely music category and visual art category. Supermusic places competent and popular figures in their respective fields. For the music category jury lineup, it is filled by musician & vocalist Rekti Yoewono, music arranger Ronald Steven, and music & business activist Nadia Yustina. Meanwhile, the art category is filled by a lineup of top visual artists and illustrators, namely Oom Leo, Popo Mangun, Hana Madness, Bunga Fatia, and Streoflow.

"In this second season, there is an innovation in terms of the jury lineup, namely in the visual art category we added slots to become 5 juries. The five juries in the visual art category come from different disciplines of visual arts. This is based on the rapid and dynamic development of visual arts, so we hope that the perspective of our jury's assessment can be broader. Meanwhile, in the music category, the jury panel is filled by figures who represent competence from the musician, music arranger, and industry practitioner aspects," explained Nathan.

2. Rekti Yoewono Appointed as Judge

The Sigit frontman Rekti Yoewono, who has been selected as a judge for the music category, believes that Dare To Be The Next Superstar (DTBTNS) Season 2 will be more interesting and important to be followed by young musicians who have not yet been able to make it to the 'surface'. According to this long-haired man, DTBTNS Season 2 can become a platform for showcasing their hidden talents and gaining wider public recognition.

"In this digital era, everyone is facilitated to create and showcase their works. Therefore, a curation platform is also needed to discover interesting and quality talents. Last year, through DTBTNS, I was introduced to talented young individuals. It was proven that some participants from last year have started actively pursuing their careers and gaining attention from music enthusiasts who are their target market," said Rekti.

3. A Stepping Stone for Artists

With a diverse range of talents, Oom Leo mentioned that DTBTNS Season 2 could be an important stepping stone for talented visual artists to present their works to the public and establish a strong foundation. This multi-platform visual artist considers the curatorial concept, which is a series of judging processes in this event, as a 'sacred' element that is rarely found and adds value.

"At the local and global level today, there are not many platforms and massive events that use curation patterns and evaluation methods to select works that will be presented to the public. Easy access and current information flow have made the creation of works more 'shortcut'. Reaching a wider audience without going through various initial processes such as criticism, discussion, and even inspiration and aspirations in the creation stage," explained the owner with the real name Narpati Awangga.

"This event is actually trying to reflect on those important processes. Nevertheless, the art world still greatly needs the curation process," he added emphatically.

4. Judging Session

After the registration process or submission from January 17 to February 28, 2022, the DTBTNS Season 2 series continues to the judging stage (curation, coaching, final), and ends with the exploration of the winners. In the judging process, the judges in each category will select the best works from the participants who are deemed worthy of becoming winners. Each jury has their own assessment criteria, as do Rekti and Oom Leo.

"Personally, for me, a song that is enjoyable to listen to is a must. But there is another important element, namely uniqueness and distinctiveness, both in terms of the work itself and how it is presented," said Rekti.

"Actually, there are no specific criteria for the works. But at least they must know about good and wise methods of creating works, and be able to answer everything related to the 5W+1H," said Oom Leo.
