Fiko Nainggolan Releases Retro Single 'Debar Asmara', Inspired by Diskoria and Dian Sastrowardoyo

Kapanlagi.com - Every musician has their own way to promote their works. Like soloist Atanasius Feriko Triantoro or known by the stage name Fiko Nainggolan who chose to take the do it yourself approach, which is by playing his own songs on local radios.

Fiko's songs have proven to be quite popular among listeners, especially during certain hours (indie song session). And from the gathered data, Debar Asmara can be considered the most popular and received positive response.

The song Debar Asmara presents a theme that is very relatable to real-life love stories. It tells the story of two individuals meeting at a party, where they initially feel shy to get to know each other.

"When we meet someone new that we like, we should approach them subtly, because we never know when we will meet them again," explained Fiko about the message of the song Debar Asmara.

1. Inspired by the song Diskoria Ft Dian Sastro

Uniquely, Fiko made the song Debar Asmara because he was inspired by the song Diskoria feat. Dian Sastrowardoyo titled Serenata Jiwa Lara. According to him, the song reminded him of his childhood. In the past, Fiko's parents woke up their children to go to school by playing songs from the 1980s loudly in the living room. Eventually, those songs stuck in Fiko's head and he started to like them. Diskoria was able to evoke those beautiful memories, so Fiko was moved to make similar songs.

"As for the song, he created it himself. The recording process only took a day." Located in Syaelendra music studio, which is one of the oldest studios in Indonesia. It was intentionally recorded there to capture the vintage vibes. For the mixing and mastering process, it was assisted by my idol, Mas Jawa Maliq & The Essential. As for the production process from the workshop to the recording, it took approximately 3 to 4 days," explained Raditya Joko Bramantyo, the producer of the song Debar Asmara.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, some concept changes had to be made by Fiko and the team, especially for the making of the music video. Initially, they had a shooting concept outside, but they decided to change the setting to inside the Dumeca Pictures studio.

"Actually, I made this song quite quickly, only took about a day. So I created the melody first, then I perfected it with the lyrics. What's interesting is that usually it takes me a while to write the lyrics, because I have to adjust the tone or sentence breaks. But especially the song Debar Asmara went smoothly. So the process of making the lyrics when I was meditating in the toilet and I don't know why suddenly I was able to write the lyrics of this song on my cellphone. In my opinion, this is a magic moment that is hard to repeat," said Fiko.

2. Released Under the Dumeca Records Label

The song Debar Asmara was released under the Dumeca Records label, commanded by Ferry Ardiansyah, one of the entrepreneurs and public figures who acted as the Executive Producer for the single. Fiko also explained how he initially joined the label.

"Thanks God! Finally, I met Dumeca Records, which supported me for the release of the single Debar Asmara. So, the story goes, I had previously made a song for Aldiv (one of the Dumeca artists) titled Tinggalkan Rasa. From there, I started meeting the Dumeca Records team frequently, and they actually listened to my latest songs on Spotify. They were interested in the song Debar Asmara. Then, Bang Ferry Ardiansyah asked me to revise some parts and remaster this song with better quality under the new name Fiko Nainggolan," concluded Fiko.
