Kapanlagi.com - After previously only available as a limited edition compact disc boxset, the 10th album from Gugun Blues Shelter titled GBSFEST can now be enjoyed on various digital streaming platforms. The album, which was initially released in mid-2019, is available in digital format starting from November 15, 2021, through the collaboration between Gugun Blues Shelter and the record label demajors.
After a hiatus of approximately 3 years from the album recording world, Gugun Blues Shelter returns with a strong rock tradition in the GBSFEST album. Each song on the album is recorded with the attitude of a rock group performing at a festival.
"This album feels harder, rawer, even recorded with large guitar and bass amplifier cabinets, as if performing live on a festival stage," explained Gugun, expressing the overall expression of his new album. He also added that the origin of the GBFEST title was taken from its varied music genres, consisting of rock, blues, and funk. For him, the combination of music makes him feel like he's at a traditional rock music festival.

The GBSFEST album contains 8 hot tracks with hit songs like the first single Sweet Looking Woman which also appeared in Tompi's film, PRETTY BOYS (2019), I'm So Lonely along with three other songs from the album that enlivened Derby Romero's film, GAS KUY (2021), and Tentang Mu which is also the focus track of this digital release.
Interestingly, the straightforward and open expression produced by the music in the album contrasts with the themes of the songs that are increasingly centered on Gugun's personal experiences. "The songwriting in this album is the most personal compared to the previous ones," explained Gugun, who also reacted to the anxieties of life during the pandemic.
Nevertheless, Gugun said that the most significant outcome in his band was after the TURN IT ON and SOUT SHAKER albums. GBSFEST features contributions from musicians like Eugen Bounty and Brury Effendy for the wind section. The album cover artwork is also done by Yoyo Hins Itta, who translated Gugun's visual ideas. The GBSFEST album will also be available in regular compact disc format. Gugun Blues Shelter is also preparing to release a new single in the near future.
