Hindia's Concert Cancellation in Tasikmalaya Not Due to Music, But Symbols That Violate Religious Norms

Kapanlagi.com - The planned performance of Hindia at the Ruang Bermusik 2025 concert in Tasikmalaya has been officially canceled. This cancellation is not about the music or the concert performance, but rather the content that is considered problematic by several parties.

The chairman of the Al Mumtaz organization in Tasikmalaya, Ustaz Hilmi Afwan, explained that their objections are not directed at the concert or its organizers. According to him, the issue arises because the band Hindia often brings content that is considered deviant from religious norms.

"In Tasikmalaya, there are clear rules and regulations; there is what we call SOP. The problem is not the concert, nor the music. But this is related to the band Hindia, which often brings symbols that violate religious norms," said Hilmi to the media.

He added that there are strong allegations that the content brought by Hindia relates to deviant symbols. This has made his side feel the need to express objections openly.

"Regarding this band, there are indications of a satanic band, a band that indeed brushes against norms that violate sharia, with an understanding of the symbols of the Dajjal, bokmet. That is the only issue," he said.

Hilmi stated that this discussion has also entered the discussion space held together with the police. He emphasized that his side is only conveying the aspirations of the community, without intending to impose their will.

"That was just opening a discussion space. The police chief only provided a recommendation to the regional police, who will later decide whether it is permitted or not. We are just providing input from the voices of the people of Tasikmalaya," said Hilmi.

In response to this controversy, the Chief of Tasikmalaya City Police, AKBP Moh Faruk Rozi, explained that the results of a series of meetings have been summarized and will be forwarded to the West Java Regional Police. He assured that the police's role is only to convey the meeting results in the form of recommendations.

"The result is that first, all the results of the 4 meetings will be conveyed to the West Java Regional Police," said AKBP Faruk to reporters.

Faruk also emphasized that full authority regarding concert permits lies with the West Java Regional Police. The city police only provide recommendations based on community aspirations.

"And the recommendations that we will issue are descriptions or results from the meetings we have held over the course of 4 times," he explained.

Furthermore, he asserted that Tasikmalaya has never unilaterally prohibited any concerts. In fact, local community leaders are very open to arts activities, as long as they adhere to the applicable rules.

"So there has been no discussion that states that concerts are not allowed. In fact, concerts are supported by religious scholars, as well as arts community organizations, but with consideration of regulatory issues and local wisdom that have existed in Tasikmalaya City, because Tasikmalaya is a city of santri, a religious and spiritual city," he revealed.
