Iconic Tourist Releases Two New Singles, Debut Album Coming Soon

Kapanlagi.com - The alternative rock band Iconic Tourist is back to enliven the Indonesian music scene with the release of two new singles, "Give it to Me" and "Oh Honey." These two songs are part of their debut album titled "If There Were A Band At The Opera," which is scheduled for release in early February 2025.

Iconic Tourist is fronted by Jova Rangkuti (vocals/guitar) and Reno Rendragraha (drums), who have been collaborating since 2020. They started this music project with the aim of combining their inspirations and musical tastes.

"The establishment of Iconic Tourist began when Reno and I had the idea to form a band with the concept of merging our inspirations and musical tastes," said Jova Rangkuti.

In 2020, they released their first song titled "No One is Going to Know the Difference," featuring catchy guitar riffs and rich ambient backgrounds. This song marked the beginning of their musical journey.

1. Maintain the Dark Element

In the same year, Iconic Tourist released the song "Too Tired" with a different vibe while still maintaining the 'dark' element as in their first song.

After experiencing several personnel changes, Jova and Reno remained consistent in introducing their work. They then created the song "Oh Honey", which became a turning point of motivation to continue producing the album even with just a two-person formation.

In 2023, the band's formation became even more solid with the addition of Ananda Viguno (guitar) and Tyo Priohutomo (bass). With a complete lineup, they created the song "Give it to Me", which depicts an "angry" atmosphere with dynamic tempo play.

By the end of 2024, both singles have been available on various digital music platforms. In addition, Iconic Tourist also released live session videos for both songs on their YouTube channel, providing a glimpse of the energy and visuals from their live performances.

2. Release Next Month

The album "If There Were A Band At The Opera" containing 12 songs with a dominance of alternative and alternative-rock genres is scheduled to be released on February 2, 2025. This album offers a variety of abstract nuances and moods, reflecting the emotions and feelings expressed by its members.

"Compared to a message, the album 'If There Were A Band At The Opera' can be concluded more as a medium to pour out emotions and feelings," explained Jova Rangkuti.

The lyrics in this album are born from the writer's restlessness and thoughts about personal life to social criticism. Musically, this album mixes various colors and moods, creating a somewhat abstract atmosphere when listened to as a whole.

In addition to releasing the album, Iconic Tourist also plans to hold a showcase in mid-2025. This event aims to introduce their new album and provide a glimpse of the energy and visuals of their live performance to fans.
