Leading Special Needs Children at the Concert 'A Night of Light', Addie MS Admits to being Touched

Kapanlagi.com - Composer Addie MS, together with the Light Music Orchestra (LMO) group, successfully held a concert titled A Night of Light. The concert, which took place at Umar Ismail Building in South Jakarta on Sunday (19/11/2023), also provided a platform for special needs children to showcase their talent in playing symphonic music.

There were around 12 songs performed in the concert, including Beauty and The Beast, Under the Sea, Viva La Vida, and Canon in D. Interestingly, the concert also featured the Light Music Ensemble (LME), which consisted mostly of special needs children, performing the songs Yamko Rambe Yamko and Happy by Pharrell William.

In line with LMO's founding vision, the concert served as a gathering place, embracing and providing equal and fair opportunities. Especially for individuals with special needs to showcase their talents.

"I am touched, honestly I imagine many benefits that can be obtained. Our children have the opportunity to process. From there they will be stronger," said Addie MS from the stage.

For that, Kevin Aprillio's father appreciates Edmund Luciouys Oey, Celine Handoko, and Maddison Kurniawan, who became the initiators of the formation of this LMO. Moreover, at a young age, they move and act for individuals with special needs.

"After I created the Twilight Orchestra, there were many problems. We don't have symphony music infrastructure. There are three young people who want those with special needs to blend in with regular people. Collaborate and empathize with each other. I really appreciate the initiators," he said.

2. Beautiful Harmony

In the concert, Addie MS also introduced what instruments were used. In a symphony orchestra, it consists of 4 families of instruments, which are played by different individuals, until they all come together to create beautiful harmony.

"String or bowed instruments. The second is woodwind instruments or wood beem, there are also brass instruments. The fourth family is percussion," Addie MS concluded.
